Influences of global human trafficking issues on Nigeria: a gender perspective.
This story talks about how poverty is one of the biggest reasons for human trafficking. They need money so people take advantage of that by telling them they would work for someone else, but in fact they are just going to pimp them out. It says that millions of women and young girls are the most common victims. They are transported to another location and are then sold. The most common place they are transported after being sold is western Europe, the Middle East, Japan, North America and Australia. It says that the reasons why they target women and young girls are because of the lack of knowing of their rights. I thought it was going to be long and boring but in fact it was very interesting and that's why I chose this story to compare to the other.
Similarities:
*Both talked about human trafficking
*Both talked about women in their stories
Differences:
*One was talking about that the incident occured in Austin,Tx.
*The other talked about the incident occuring in Nigeria
*One talked about how they were forced into doing labor w/very little food, and a woman being raped repeatedly.
*The other talked about how they were taking advantage of the situation of being poor and in need of a job. Also talked about how they took advantange because they didn't know their legal rights.

Assignment 8 Blinkx Video
The thing that probably caught most of every ones attention was the stiff-armed salute. What's really eye grabbing is that all the people who were loyal to Hitler did it. Why I think they did this was because they were loyal,it showed honor, and it also showed respect to Hitler and thays why I think they would would salute him in this manner.
The 2nd thing that caught my eye was that Hitler is a very good speaker. He spoke like there's nothing to it. That is why he got so many to believe that is was the Jews fault for Germany's problems because he was such a good speaker. Those were the two things that got my attention the stiff-armed salute and the way Hitler spoke so good.

Assignment 5 Timeline Summary
Concentration Camps
Many Concentration Camps were the number one choice for Nazi's to kill the Jews. There was many other ways of killing the Jews but this was the most used method. The reasons that they would use the concentration camps more than anything was because it was a lot quicker and would spare the Germans less ammunition and less emotional pain. There was about 6 concentration camps located in Poland. When they arrived at the newly added concentration camps (1942) they were not being selected to die they would kill them once they arrived. All the other camps in Poland were closing down except for Auschwitz which kept running through the summer of 1944.All the other camps in Poland were being destroyed to leave no evidence to their crime. At last they sent millions of Jews to the concentration camps in central Germany. Thousands of them died and is now known as the Death Marches.

Assignment 2
What that chapter was about was that Adam Posner was ready to leave his work, but then when he went to the elevator the elevator got jammed. His deepest secrets were coming out. It showed that he was afraid of the dark and is claustrophobic. He started panicking because he could not get out, and on top of that he started hearing voices and made him get out even more. He remembered when he was young that he was so scared of the dark when he would go to the theatre and he would have to go to the exit sign because there was a little bit of light. He started remembering when he was being forced into the Cattle Car Complex to take them into the concentration camp. The man that was trying to help him out of the elevator was being attacked by words by Posner telling him he is a Nazi .
I believe he does this because he wants the Jews to be informed that they suffered so much, and he does not want them to forget what had happen in those years.

Assignment 7
The website had very descriptive pictures. many were very disturbing because it shows a lot of people walking in the brothel to go with many of the young girls who sell their body and the men do not care about the girls. I especially remember a picture that the many girls that are there have beautiful decorative butterflies and it reminded me of an interview Mrs. Wieder showed us. The girls getting interviewed said that it is very hard to be happy in the brothel and that they had to think about being happy. From all the pictures that butterfly one stood out the most.

Assignment 3
Man vs. Man
I think that the main conflict of the story is MONEY. The reason I think that money is the conflict is because they don't have don't have a good roof and they have to keep on looking and checking to see if it's going to rain so it wont get in the house.Even though they dont have money the step father still gambles all the money that he can get on. Sometimes it may be everything and that's why Lakshmi gets into prostitution because she thinks that it's her responsibility to help her family get money and try to get a tin roof.

Assignment 2
A Trade p.52
In this vignette Lakshmi's step father is taking her to Bajai Sita's. When they arrive her step father is telling Bajai Sita that Lakshmi wants to work in the city. When Bajai Sita says that she doesn't have any hips, she's plain , and many other things, Lakshmi is wondering why does she need all this if she's going to work as a maid. This shows that she is an innocent little girl and does not know what is going on. I like this vignette because at first there was not much going on until this vignette, and also because this is where all the problems start building up for Lakshmi and gets more interesting.
